Andhra Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a leading hub for solar manufacturing in India, with Jupiter Renewables announcing a major investment of Rs 2,700 crore to establish a solar cell and module manufacturing facility in the state. This makes Jupiter the third company to set up operations in Andhra Pradesh's growing solar ecosystem.
A subsidiary of Kolkata-based Jupiter International, Jupiter Renewables plans to set up a 4.8 gigawatt (GW) solar photovoltaic (PV) cell and 1.5 GW module manufacturing facility at Rambilli in the Anakapalli district. The state government's Industries and Commerce Department has approved the investment, which is expected to create 2,216 jobs.
The project will be implemented in two phases. Phase one, involving a 2.4 GW solar PV cell and 1.5 GW module manufacturing unit, is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2026 with an investment of Rs 1,504 crore. Phase two, with an additional 2.4 GW solar PV cell capacity, will be launched by July 2026 with an investment of Rs 1,196 crore.
With this development, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself to compete with traditional solar manufacturing states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. Since the return of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to power last year, the state has witnessed a surge in renewable energy investments.
Earlier, Indosol received approval for a massive Rs 69,000 crore investment in a vertically integrated solar PV manufacturing unit. Meanwhile, Premier Energies is investing in two phases—Rs 1,742 crore for a 5 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing unit, and Rs 4,200 crore for an 8 GW solar cell manufacturing facility.
These significant investments reflect Andhra Pradesh’s growing role in India’s clean energy future and its commitment to fostering green industrial development.
