Security forces were placed on high alert on Friday following bomb threats at two major government locations — Udyog Bhawan in New Delhi and the Haryana Chief Minister’s office in Chandigarh.
At Udyog Bhawan, the threat originated from an email addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The message claimed that suicide bombers would use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) inside the building premises.
In response, the Union Secretary issued a directive to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), instructing immediate and appropriate measures. As a precaution, the building was evacuated and security was significantly increased in the surrounding area.
Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, the police received a phone call warning of an impending explosion at the Haryana Chief Minister’s office. This prompted an immediate response, with security being tightened around key government establishments including the Haryana Secretariat and the CM’s residence.
Bomb disposal teams and heavily armed personnel conducted thorough checks at all high-risk locations. Authorities are currently tracing the source of both the email and the threat call.
As of now, no suspicious items have been discovered, but both sites continue to remain under close surveillance as part of standard security protocols.
