New Delhi, 28 August 2025: RITES Limited, a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise and one of India’s top multidisciplinary engineering and consultancy firms, has announced a vacancy for the position of Director (Projects). Established in 1974, RITES focuses on developing transport infrastructure and related technologies while providing comprehensive services in railways, highways, metros, airports, ports, urban planning, and green mobility initiatives.
With a presence in over 55 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, RITES also acts as the export arm of Indian Railways, supplying locomotives, coaches, and train sets around the world. The company’s Registered Office is in Delhi, and its Corporate Office is in Gurugram, Haryana. As of 31 March 2025, RITES employed 1,402 executives and 388 non-executives, with the Government of India holding a 72.2% stake.
Role and Responsibilities
The Director (Projects) will be a key member of the Board of Directors, reporting directly to the Chairman and Managing Director. The role involves overseeing resource and material management for ongoing projects, ensuring timely provision of manpower and materials, and offering strategic guidance for civil and infrastructure projects. The Director will also promote indigenization under the Government’s Atma Nirbhar initiative and guide consultancy services in line with technological progress.
Eligibility and Experience
Applicants must be engineering graduates with a strong academic record. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA or other postgraduate management qualifications. Candidates should have significant technical and operational experience, including at least five years in project planning, management, design, or consultancy within the last decade. Experience in rail transport and infrastructure projects will be a plus.
Eligible applicants include executives from Central and State Public Sector Enterprises, Central Government Group ‘A’ officers, officers from public sector banks, financial institutions, autonomous bodies, or private sector companies with a minimum annual turnover of Rs. 5,000 crore.
Age and Tenure
The position is open to candidates aged at least 45 years with a maximum residual service of 2 to 3 years as of the vacancy date. The appointment will last for five years or until the candidate reaches superannuation, whichever comes first.
