NEW DELHI – RailTel Corporation of India has been awarded a domestic contract valued at Rs 209.78 crore by the Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC). The order, received via a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the State Project Director, is for the "Implementation of Education Quality Enhancement in Bihar under PM SHRI" project.
The project is part of the Indian government's PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) scheme, which aims to upgrade and modernize over 14,500 existing schools across the country. These schools will serve as model institutions, implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to provide high-quality, holistic, and joyful education. The scheme focuses on creating a comprehensive learning environment with modern infrastructure like smart classrooms, ICT labs, and other digital tools.
The contract with RailTel involves providing the necessary infrastructure and technology to meet the goals of the PM SHRI scheme in Bihar. The company has a deadline of September 11, 2026, to complete the project. This significant win marks another successful venture for RailTel in the education sector, expanding its portfolio beyond its core telecommunications business.
