HURL and DMC Sign MoU to Install LED Streetlights Across Sindri
HURL and Dhanbad Municipal Corporation ink MoU to install LED streetlights across 30 km of Sindri under CER, promoting safety and sustainability.

Sindri: Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) and the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 4, 2025. This agreement is part of HURL's Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) initiative, aiming to support community development and environmental accountability.
The MoU plans to light up about 30 kilometers of Sindri town with energy-efficient LED street lights and high mast lighting systems, at an estimated cost of ₹10.29 crore. This project should improve public safety, boost energy efficiency, and significantly benefit urban infrastructure development in the area.
The signing ceremony featured Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of HURL; the VP of HR; the BUH (Sindri); the Municipal Commissioner of DMC; and the Additional Municipal Commissioner of DMC. Their attendance highlighted the spirit of teamwork and a shared dedication to community improvement and sustainable growth.
After the signing, the day turned into a celebration of nature and employee involvement through the Van Mahotsav tree planting drive. Employees and dignitaries took part in greening the campus. The event also included handing out specially designed T-shirts to promote unity and awareness, and it finished with a guided tour of HURL’s operations.
