A South Indian Bank strike called for September 28–30, 2026, could affect normal functioning at its branches, offices and departments, the lender said in a BSE filing dated September 26, 2026. The bank said its ATMs and digital channels will function to meet customer needs if the proposed strike takes place.

The call came from the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), to which the bank’s Officers Association and Workmen Union are affiliated. The proposed action covers three days, according to the disclosure submitted to the stock exchanges.

South Indian Bank framed the potential disruption as conditional on the strike materialising. Its notice did not state that branch operations had already been affected or that all branches would close during the proposed strike period.

Branch operations may be affected; digital channels to function

The bank distinguished between possible disruption to its normal operations and the availability of alternative banking channels. Its disclosure set out the following service position:

  • Normal functioning of branches, offices and departments may be affected if the strike materialises.
  • ATMs will function to meet customer needs.
  • Digital channels will function during the proposed action.

The filing did not provide branch-wise details or specify which services within branches, offices or departments could face disruption. The information supplied therefore identifies a possible operational interruption across these units without defining its extent at individual locations.

Loss and operational impact not quantifiable

South Indian Bank said the expected loss or damages and impact on operations were not quantifiable. It supplied no monetary estimate of the potential effect of the proposed strike.

The lender submitted the notice under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. It addressed the communication to BSE and the National Stock Exchange, identifying its BSE scrip code as 532218 and NSE symbol as SOUTHBANK.

Company Secretary Jimmy Mathew signed the September 26 disclosure. The Thrissur-headquartered bank also said the information was being hosted on its website for dissemination.
