Indian Bank strike notice: Branches may be affected on September 11, 28–30
Indian Bank warns of possible branch disruption as UFBU serves notice for September strikes and a continuous strike from October 26, despite arrangements.
Indian Bank disclosed an Indian Bank strike notice from the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in a BSE filing dated September 9, 2026. The notice covers strikes on September 11, September 28–30 and a continuous strike from October 26, 2026. The bank said its branches and offices may be affected if the proposed action materialises.
The bank said it has made all necessary arrangements to ensure smooth functioning of its branches and offices on the strike days. However, it cautioned that these arrangements do not rule out disruption if the unions proceed with the action.
The disclosure concerns a notice of intended industrial action. It does not confirm that a strike has begun or that branches will close on the specified dates.
Strike dates specified in the notice
The UFBU notice sets out three periods of proposed action, beginning with a single day in September and extending to continuous action from late October:
- September 11, 2026: A one-day strike.
- September 28–30, 2026: A strike covering three consecutive dates.
- October 26, 2026 onwards: A continuous strike, with no end date specified in the filing.
Indian Bank identified seven unions within the UFBU grouping that served the notice: AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBOC and INBEF.
The filing said the proposed strikes relate to various issues and demands. It did not describe those demands or provide details of discussions relating to the proposed action.
Operational caution in exchange disclosure
The bank's warning applies to the functioning of its branches and offices and remains conditional on the strikes taking place. The disclosure does not identify particular branches, offices or services that could be affected, or quantify any financial impact.
Indian Bank submitted the notice to BSE and the National Stock Exchange under the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The communication lists BSE scrip code 532814 and NSE symbol INDIANB, allowing investors to identify the bank's exchange disclosure.
