RITES CMD reappointment approved till June 2027, subject to shareholder nod
RITES board has approved Rahul Mithal’s reappointment as CMD and CEO from October 7, 2026, subject to shareholder approval at the ensuing AGM.

RITES CMD reappointment: RITES Ltd said in a BSE filing on August 21, 2026 that its board had approved the reappointment of Rahul Mithal as Chairman and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
The new tenure will take effect from October 7, 2026, extending his term beyond October 6. Mithal will continue until his superannuation on June 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier. The reappointment remains subject to approval by the company’s shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting.
Board acts on Ministry of Railways letter
The board’s decision was taken in terms of a Ministry of Railways, Government of India letter dated August 20, 2026. RITES had previously informed the exchanges about the board meeting on the same date.
The company also confirmed, based on a declaration received from Mithal, that he is not debarred from holding the office of director by any order of the Securities and Exchange Board of India or any other authority.

Rahul Mithal’s professional profile
Mithal has served as RITES Chairman and Managing Director and CEO since October 7, 2021. He belongs to the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers and is from the SCRA 1985 batch.
He holds an MBA in Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK. He is also a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council, UK.
Before his role at RITES, Mithal served for four years as a functional director on the board of Container Corporation of India Ltd from September 29, 2017 to October 6, 2021, overseeing its Projects and Services wing. He has held key positions in Indian Railways for more than 20 years and is also chairman of RITES subsidiary REMC Ltd.
The RITES board meeting began at 3:40 pm and concluded at 3:50 pm on August 21, 2026.
