SJVN Limited said in a revised BSE filing on August 12, 2026, that its 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Bihar has achieved its Commercial Operation Date. The project was executed through SJVN Green Energy Limited, the power producer's wholly owned subsidiary.

Located near Hadhadiya village in Kakanchaur, Jamui district, the solar facility has been developed across approximately 300 acres of outright-purchased land. SJVN estimated the project's cost at ₹342 crore.

Generation, tariff and power supply

SJVN expects the project to generate approximately 90 million units of electricity during its first year of operation. Estimated cumulative generation over 25 years is around 3,522 million units.

The electricity generated by the facility will be supplied to the State of Bihar. The project was developed pursuant to a tender floated by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency, an agency of the Bihar government.

Employment and emissions estimates

According to SJVN, the Jamui facility created approximately 15-20 direct employment opportunities and around 50-100 indirect employment opportunities, contributing to employment and economic activity in the local area.

  • SJVN said the commissioning contributes to the Government of India's target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The revised release continued an earlier press release dated August 11, 2026, on the commercial operation of the same project. SJVN is a Navratna central public sector enterprise and a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
