RattanIndia Power Arbitration Award: BHEL Gets Rs 170.78 Crore Plus Partial Interest
RattanIndia Power disclosed a net arbitration award of Rs 170.78 crore to BHEL, plus interest on part of the amount, and is evaluating its legal options.

RattanIndia Power disclosed an arbitration award granting a net amount of Rs 170.78 crore to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), plus interest on part of that amount, in a BSE filing dated October 3, 2026. The RattanIndia Power arbitration award concerns a dispute relating to the Amravati Phase-II Project.
The company said the Arbitral Tribunal had rejected most of BHEL’s claims and allowed claims made by RattanIndia Power. Despite those outcomes, the award resulted in a net amount payable to BHEL. The precise amount disclosed in the filing is Rs 1,70,78,29,532, excluding the interest applicable to a portion of the award.
RattanIndia Power said it was evaluating the award in detail. Its disclosure sets out available legal remedies but does not announce that a challenge has been filed.
Claims outcome and financial implications
The annexure accompanying the exchange filing identifies BHEL as the opposing party in the arbitration. It describes the matter as relating to the Amravati Phase-II Project, without providing further details of the underlying contractual dispute.
The company reported three elements of the tribunal’s decision:
- Most of BHEL’s claims were rejected.
- Claims made by RattanIndia Power were allowed.
- A net amount of Rs 1,70,78,29,532, along with interest on a partial amount, was awarded to BHEL.
The disclosure does not specify the interest rate, the portion on which interest applies or the period for calculating it. Consequently, the stated net award does not provide a complete figure inclusive of interest.
Company evaluates legal remedies
RattanIndia Power identified a challenge before the competent High Court as one of the remedies available to it. It also referred to further appellate remedies before the Supreme Court, if necessary.
The company submitted the disclosure under Regulation 30, read with Para B of Part A of Schedule III of the SEBI Listing Regulations, addressing it to both BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India.
The filing was signed by Lalit Narayan Mathpati, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.
