Cochin Shipyard order book stood at approximately Rs 21,900 crore, the company disclosed in an investor presentation submitted through a BSE filing on September 10, 2026. Separately, it reported L1 status for five Next Generation Survey Vessels for the Indian Navy, valued at around Rs 5,000 crore.

The presentation accompanied a performance and business discussion with investors and analysts scheduled for 2 pm that day. The disclosed order book comprises Rs 20,700 crore across 78 shipbuilding vessels and approximately Rs 1,200 crore in ship repair orders.

The company specified that shipbuilding order values represent balance amounts yet to be recognised. The Navy survey vessel opportunity was presented separately as an L1 position; the supplied disclosure does not report a contract award for these vessels.

Defence leads shipbuilding orders

Defence accounts for the largest portion of the disclosed order book. The shipbuilding breakdown covers domestic naval projects alongside commercial vessels for Indian and export customers.

  • Defence: 11 vessels with a balance order value of Rs 11,900 crore.
  • Domestic commercial: 36 vessels worth Rs 1,600 crore.
  • Commercial exports: 31 vessels worth Rs 7,200 crore.

Across the 78 vessels, 31 were at the design and engineering stage, 30 at hull fabrication and 17 at an advanced stage.

In ship repair, Cochin Shipyard reported handling 163 projects in FY26, generating turnover of approximately Rs 1,656 crore. The presentation described a network of five dedicated ship repair units across India, serving commercial and defence customers.

Kochi facilities and subsidiary operations

The presentation detailed investment of Rs 2,770 crore in two Kochi facilities inaugurated in January 2024: a Rs 1,800 crore large dry dock and the Rs 970 crore International Ship Repair Facility.

The 310-metre dry dock can accommodate large vessels and aircraft carriers. The repair facility has a 6,000-tonne shiplift, can handle ships up to 130 metres long and lists capacity of 82 ships annually.

Among subsidiaries, Udupi Cochin Shipyard reported an order book of Rs 2,100 crore and FY26 turnover of Rs 618 crore. Hooghly Cochin Shipyard reported an approximately Rs 200 crore order book and FY26 turnover of Rs 123 crore.
