New Delhi, August 6, 2025 — The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), under the Department of Personnel & Training, conducted interviews on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 3:30 PM to select a candidate for the post of Director (Commercial) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Schedule 'A' CPSE.

A total of 12 senior executives from various public sector undertakings (PSUs) were interviewed in the selection meeting. The applicants included top-level officials such as Executive Directors, Chief General Managers, and General Managers from leading PSUs like SAIL, BHEL, NTPC, RINL, MECON, NMDC, and others.

The list of interviewed candidates included:

Despite the extensive deliberations and a highly qualified pool of candidates, PESB did not recommend any candidate for the position. The Board has advised the concerned Administrative Ministry/Department to explore further action, either by initiating a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or choosing an alternative course with the required approvals.

This outcome underscores the PESB’s continued emphasis on finding the most suitable leadership to steer strategic roles in India’s major public sector enterprises.
