Chennai – NLC India Limited, through its subsidiary NLC India Renewables Limited, has secured a Letter of Award from Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited for developing three standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects totaling 250 MW 500 MWh capacity.
These systems will provide two complete charge discharge cycles per day and will be set up at substations in Ottapidaram, Anuppankulam, and Kayathar in Tamil Nadu. The projects were awarded through a competitive bidding process and will be developed under the Build Own Operate model. They are supported by Viability Gap Funding under the state component.
This initiative represents NLC India's first large-scale entry into energy storage and reflects its ongoing commitment to India's renewable energy transition.
