National Aluminium Company: NALCO Signs EGA Technology Agreement for 0.5 MTPA Anugola Smelter
NALCO has signed a technology agreement with EGA for DX+ Ultra smelting technology for its proposed 0.5 MTPA Anugola expansion in Odisha.

NALCO EGA technology agreement: National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has signed a technology licensing agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) for deployment of EGA’s DX+ Ultra aluminium smelting technology at its proposed brownfield expansion at Anugola, Odisha. NALCO informed the exchanges through a BSE filing dated September 7, 2026.
The agreement was signed in Dubai on September 7. It covers the proposed 0.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) aluminium smelter expansion project at Anugola.
Technology support for expansion project
Under the agreement, EGA will provide NALCO with the technology licence, know-how, designs and technical information needed to implement DX+ Ultra technology. EGA will also provide technical support during different stages of project implementation.
NALCO said DX+ Ultra is a high-amperage aluminium smelting technology designed to support higher productivity and improved energy performance. The company expects its adoption to help develop an efficient and competitive smelter with optimised capital and operating costs.

Capacity target outlined
NALCO said the proposed expansion is expected to add around 0.5 MTPA of aluminium production capacity at Anugola. Together with its existing capacity, the expansion would move the company towards an overall aluminium production capacity of about 1 million tonnes per annum.
The filing said the agreement was signed in the presence of NALCO Chairman-cum-Managing Director Brijendra Pratap Singh and EGA Chief Executive Officer Abdulnasser Bin Kalban. NALCO described the project as part of its ongoing expansion programme and said it is intended to address aluminium demand in strategic and emerging sectors of the Indian economy.
