Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) disclosed its corporate presentation on August 12, 2026, through a BSE filing ahead of an analysts and institutional investors meeting scheduled for August 13. The LIC Q1 FY27 results presentation showed profit after tax rising 22.81% to Rs 13,492 crore from Rs 10,986 crore in Q1 FY26.

Total premium income increased 6.75% to Rs 1,27,250 crore, compared with Rs 1,19,200 crore in the corresponding quarter. Individual new business premium grew 14.48% to Rs 14,351 crore, while individual renewal premium rose 3.61% to Rs 61,065 crore. Total group business premium advanced 8.61% to Rs 51,834 crore.

Solvency improves as assets under management expand

LIC’s assets under management stood at Rs 59,39,384 crore in Q1 FY27, up 4.10% from Rs 57,05,341 crore a year earlier. Its solvency ratio improved to 2.42 from 2.17.

The number of individual policies sold increased 2.06%, while policies sold through bancassurance and alternate channels rose 16.35%. Weighted received premium increased 18.01%, and individual new business sum assured grew 8.01%.

Market share and claims metrics

According to Life Insurance Council data cited in the presentation, LIC’s premium market share was 60.10% in Q1 FY27, against 63.51% in Q1 FY26. Its market share by policies stood at 60.73%, compared with 63.07% a year earlier.

  • The individual death claim settlement ratio was 94.03%, against 94.59% in Q1 FY26.
  • Total death claims paid increased 0.97% to Rs 5,934 crore.
  • Total maturity claims paid rose 12.88% to Rs 57,099 crore.
  • The gross non-performing asset ratio for policyholders’ funds declined to 1.21% from 1.42%.
  • The overall expense ratio increased to 10.63% from 10.47%.

The yield on policyholders’ funds, excluding unrealised gains, was 8.28%, compared with 8.45% in Q1 FY26. The corresponding yield on shareholders’ funds was 6.21%, against 6.14%. LIC said the presentation is also available on its corporate website.
