Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), in partnership with Japan-based Nissin Electric Co Ltd, has introduced India's first micro substation integrated with Power Voltage Transformer (PVT) technology. This marks a significant step toward delivering reliable and affordable electricity to residential areas.

The micro substation is designed to directly step down high-voltage power from transmission lines into low-voltage electricity suitable for homes. This efficient solution is tailored for remote regions with difficult terrain and urban locations where expanding traditional networks is challenging.

Serving around 9 million customers in North Delhi, Tata Power-DDL's initiative falls under the International Demonstration Project on Japan's Energy Efficiency Technologies, supported by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The two companies formalized their collaboration with an agreement signed on August 21, 2024.

This innovation highlights the growing collaboration between India and Japan in advancing energy infrastructure and sustainable power solutions.
