PM Modi Lays Foundation and Inaugurates Key POWERGRID Projects to Boost Renewable Energy Transmission in Rajasthan

In a significant push towards strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones for two major transmission projects of POWERGRID in Rajasthan. These projects aim to evacuate 5.5 GW of renewable energy from the state’s Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-IV.
The projects include:
-
Part B of the “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex)” under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) POWERGRID Sirohi Transmission Limited.
-
Part E of the same transmission system, executed through SPV POWERGRID Mewar Transmission Limited.
Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated three key POWERGRID transmission projects that have been completed:
-
The Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Neemuch Solar Park (1000 MW), under SPV POWERGRID Neemuch Transmission System Limited (PNTL).
-
The Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from REZ Phase-IV (Part 1) [Bikaner Complex] – Part E, implemented by POWERGRID Bikaner Transmission System Limited.
-
The Augmentation of Transformation Capacity at Fatehgarh-II PS (PG), involving installation of a 1x500 MVA, 400/220 kV (6th) transformer to ensure N-1 contingency support.
These projects reflect the government’s continued focus on facilitating clean energy generation and distribution, enhancing grid resilience, and accelerating India’s journey towards energy sustainability.
