National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has appointed Shri Neeraj (DIN: 11893986) as a part-time non-official independent director on its board for three years with effect from August 14, 2026, the state-owned aluminium producer said in a BSE filing on August 18.

The NALCO independent director appointment follows the company’s earlier communication dated August 14. The tenure will continue for three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

NALCO informed the exchanges that Neeraj is not related to any director or key managerial personnel of the company. It also said he has not been debarred from holding the office of director by any order of the Securities and Exchange Board of India or another authority.

Over three decades of legal experience

Neeraj is a senior legal professional who has practised as an advocate and legal consultant since 1994. He currently serves as Additional Advocate General, Haryana, a position he has held since 2024, and as president of the Central Delhi Court Bar Association, New Delhi, since 2025.

He is also a member of the Special Committee of the Bar Council of Delhi and general secretary of Lawyer’s Voice, a national lawyers’ organisation focused on the welfare and empowerment of weaker and underprivileged sections of society.

His current responsibilities also include serving as Senior Central Government Standing Counsel before the Armed Forces Tribunal’s Principal Bench in New Delhi, where he represents the Union of India in matters concerning the Armed Forces.

  • Served as honorary secretary of the New Delhi Bar Association during 2009-10 and 2016-18.
  • Previously led the Students’ Union at the Faculty of Law, Law Centre-I, University of Delhi.
  • Holds an LLB and an LLM in Human Rights and Duties from Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, and an MCom from Agra University.

NALCO board composition updated

Following the appointment, NALCO’s board comprised nine directors as of August 18, 2026. Brijendra Pratap Singh serves as chairman-cum-managing director, alongside two part-time official directors and functional directors overseeing production, projects and technical, human resources, finance and commercial operations.

Neeraj is listed as the board’s part-time non-official independent director. Company Secretary and Compliance Officer B. K. Sahu submitted the disclosure to BSE and the National Stock Exchange under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. NALCO is a Government of India enterprise headquartered at Nalco Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
