Coal India management change: Dr Anjani Kumar relinquished charge as Executive Director (Contracts) with effect from September 28, 2026, following his appointment as Director (Technical) at Western Coalfields Limited, the company said in a BSE filing dated September 29, 2026.

The disclosure links his departure from the Coal India role directly to his appointment at Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Coal India. The parent company reported the development as a change in senior management.

Ministry of Coal letter records appointment

Coal India cited a letter dated September 28, 2026, issued by the Section Officer, Ministry of Coal, as the basis for Dr Kumar’s appointment as Director (Technical) at WCL. The ministry letter carries reference number 21/3/2026/Establishment.

The effective date specified in the filing relates to his relinquishment of the Executive Director (Contracts) charge at Coal India. The disclosure does not separately state when he assumed charge at WCL or specify the tenure of his new appointment.
