BEML Limited has appointed Shankar Lal Agrawal, Karunakaran Nambiar K. and Promila Kundara as independent directors and non-official directors on its board, the public sector company said in a BSE filing dated August 21, 2026.

The BEML independent directors were appointed on two effective dates. Agrawal and Nambiar assumed their roles from August 18, 2026, while Kundara’s appointment took effect from August 21, 2026. BEML had initially informed the exchanges about the appointments through a letter dated August 18 and subsequently furnished the disclosures required under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations.

Background of the new board members

Agrawal holds a Master of Commerce degree and has experience spanning education, rural and community development, social welfare, public service, skill development and healthcare support. Since 2014, he has served as founder and president of Shram Shrijan Samaj Sevi Sanstha, a registered society engaged in education, community programmes and social outreach.

Nambiar is a law graduate with more than 34 years of legal practice across civil and criminal courts, the Family Court, DCRC and tribunals. He previously served as an Additional Standing Counsel for the Government of India at Kasaragod for three years. His other roles have included membership of the Kannur University Senate and positions with cooperative banking, marketing and processing organisations. The filing also identifies him as a legal adviser to several banks and Southern Railway.

Kundara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and is qualified in naturopathy. A former Member of the Legislative Assembly, she represented the Chaksu constituency in Jaipur from 2008 to 2013 and remains engaged in social welfare initiatives. Her academic background also includes participation in district-level athletics and an NCC All-India Trekking Camp.

Regulatory confirmations

BEML said the three appointees do not have any inter-se relationship with the company’s other directors. Agrawal, Nambiar and Kundara have also confirmed that they are not debarred from holding the office of director by any order passed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India or another such authority.

The disclosure was signed by Savitri Yadav, BEML’s Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, and addressed to the listing compliance departments of the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India. BEML trades under BSE scrip code 500048 and NSE symbol BEML.
