In a landmark step toward global academic collaboration, the University of Delhi (DU) and the University of Leeds (UoL) have formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to deepen engagement in joint research, academic exchange, and resource-sharing between the two prestigious institutions.
The MoU builds on a long-standing relationship led by UoL's Faculty of Social Sciences, which hosted a symposium in April 2025 in Delhi focusing on social science research methodologies. That event laid the foundation for this new phase of institutional cooperation.
UoL Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shearer West described the partnership as “a vital part of our ambition to be a truly global university,” highlighting the potential for impactful research and enriched academic experiences for both students and staff.
Echoing this enthusiasm, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh stated, “This partnership reflects our shared values of creativity, inclusivity, and quality in higher education.” He emphasized that the collaboration would create new academic networks and advance their institutional missions.
Under the agreement, both universities plan to initiate faculty and student exchanges, launch cooperative research projects, and host shared academic programs. Further announcements regarding specific initiatives are expected in the coming months.
This MoU marks a pivotal chapter in international academic diplomacy—one that may redefine how institutions pool strengths to tackle global challenges through education and research.
