Bank of India strike action has been proposed for September 11, September 28-30 and continuously from October 26, 2026, the public sector lender informed the stock exchanges in a BSE filing dated September 4, 2026.

The notice was served by the United Forum of Bank Unions, or UFBU, comprising seven unions: the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE), All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA), Indian National Bank Employees' Federation (INBEF) and Indian National Bank Officers' Congress (INBOC).

Strike schedule disclosed to exchanges

According to the filing, the unions have decided to strike over various issues and demands. The document did not provide further details about those demands.

  • September 11, 2026: Proposed strike
  • September 28 to September 30, 2026: Three-day proposed strike
  • From October 26, 2026: Proposed continuous strike

Bank of India said it is taking all necessary steps to ensure the smooth functioning of its branches and offices on the strike days. However, the bank cautioned that operations at branches and offices could be affected if the industrial action materialises.

Disclosure made under SEBI listing rules

The lender submitted the information under Regulation 30, read with Serial No. 15 of Para A of Schedule III, and Regulation 46(2)(o) of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

The communication was addressed to the listing departments of BSE Ltd and the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. Bank of India trades under the symbol BANKINDIA on the NSE and carries BSE scrip code 532149.

The filing, signed by Company Secretary Usha Ramsinghani, limits its operational caution to the possibility that branches and offices may be affected should the notified strikes take place. It does not quantify the potential extent of disruption or provide an estimate of any financial impact.
