Amid ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (10 May) held a high-level meeting at his official residence in New Delhi.
The meeting at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence of PM Modi, was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh and Navy chief Dinesh K Tripathi, among others.
The meeting took place after India's strikes at four airbases in Pakistan in the early hours of Saturday in reply to Pakistan's attack on 26 Indian locations.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh briefed the media about the ongoing developments amidst the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
After Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on Indian cities and military bases on 9 May, India struck back on 10 May, targeting Pakistani military sites with precision airstrikes.
Key Pakistani targets included command centres, radar sites, and weapon depots.
Giving details about India's response to Pakistani attacks, Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said, "In a swift and calibrated response, Indian armed forces carried out a precision strike only at identified military targets. These included technical infrastructure, command and control centre, radar sites and weapon storage areas".
"Pakistan military targets at Rafiqi, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukoor and Chuniya were engaged using air-launched precision weapons from our fighter aircraft," she added.
India also denied Pakistan’s claims of damaging Indian air assets or striking Afghanistan, calling them false.
The government said Pakistan is trying to escalate the conflict by moving troops forward, and the Indian response has been proportionate.
