New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal on 18 July. He will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate multiple development projects worth over Rs 12000 crore. These projects cover important areas such as railways, roads, power, oil and gas, fisheries, and information technology.
PM in Bihar – Projects Worth Over Rs 7200 Crore
In Motihari, Bihar, the Prime Minister will attend a public event around 11:30 AM to announce a series of development initiatives.
In the railway sector, he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects aimed at improving train operations and connectivity. This includes automatic signaling between Samastipur and Bachhwara, and the doubling of rail lines between Darbhanga and Thalwara, as well as between Samastipur and Rambhadrapur. A significant project is the doubling of the Darbhanga to Narkatiaganj rail line, valued at approximately Rs 4080 crore. The Prime Minister will also start work on maintenance facilities for Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra and upgrade the traction system on the Bhatni to Chhapra Gramin section.
In the road sector, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of the Ara bypass on National Highway 319 and inaugurate the four-lane section from Parariya to Mohania. These projects will improve the movement of goods and passengers across key routes in Bihar and Jharkhand.
The Prime Minister will open a new Software Technology Parks of India facility in Darbhanga and a modern incubation center in Patna. These centers are expected to support the IT and startup ecosystem, helping to boost exports and create jobs in the area.
In the fisheries sector, PM Modi will launch several projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. This includes hatcheries, biofloc units, ornamental fish farming units, and feed mills. The projects aim to raise fish production, create jobs, and promote rural development.
PM Modi will also flag off four new Amrit Bharat trains: from Rajendra Nagar Terminal to New Delhi, from Bapudham Motihari to Delhi Anand Vihar Terminal, from Darbhanga to Lucknow Gomti Nagar, and from Malda Town to Lucknow Gomti Nagar via Bhagalpur.
Additionally, he will release Rs 400 crore to around 61500 Self Help Groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana. More than 10 crore women are currently part of these groups. The Prime Minister will also hand over keys to 12000 rural housing beneficiaries and release Rs 160 crore to 40000 more under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin.
PM in West Bengal – Projects Worth Over Rs 5000 Crore
Around 3 PM in Durgapur, West Bengal, the Prime Minister will launch and dedicate projects in oil and gas, power, road, and rail sectors.
In a major energy initiative, he will lay the foundation stone for a City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia districts, valued at Rs 1950 crore. This project by Bharat Petroleum Corporation will provide clean energy through piped gas and compressed natural gas, while also creating jobs.
He will dedicate the Durgapur to Kolkata section of the Durgapur Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline, built for over Rs 1190 crore as part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga scheme. This will supply natural gas to households and industries in several districts.
In the power sector, PM Modi will dedicate pollution control systems installed at Durgapur Steel Thermal Power Station and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station. These flue gas desulfurization systems, costing over Rs 1457 crore, aim to lower emissions and support clean energy.
To enhance railway infrastructure, he will inaugurate the doubling of the 36 km Purulia to Kotshila rail line, worth over Rs 390 crore. This will boost connectivity between key industrial centers like Jamshedpur, Bokaro, and Dhanbad with Ranchi and Kolkata.
The Prime Minister will also open two road overbridges at Topsi and Pandabeshwar in Paschim Bardhaman district, built under the Setu Bharatam scheme at a cost exceeding Rs 380 crore. These will reduce accidents and improve local connectivity.
These projects show the government's dedication to strengthening infrastructure, supporting inclusive development, and enhancing quality of life in both states.
