Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of NTPC's Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II in Bihar’s Aurangabad district on May 30. The project, with an estimated investment of ₹29948 crore, will have a capacity of 3x800 megawatts and is based on advanced Ultra-Supercritical Technology.

The power generated from this facility will be distributed to Bihar and other beneficiary states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Punjab. Designed to meet the increasing power demand of Eastern India, the project aims to support industrial growth and community development across the region.

To promote sustainability, the plant will use a Dry Bottom Ash Handling System and an air-cooled condenser, significantly reducing freshwater usage in the power generation process. This aligns with NTPC’s broader commitment to environmental conservation and energy efficiency.

NTPC Limited, India's largest power utility, currently operates with an installed capacity of over 80 gigawatts and has an additional 32 gigawatts under construction, including 13 gigawatts from renewable sources. The company plans to reach 60 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2032.

The Nabinagar Stage-II project reflects NTPC’s continued efforts to expand its thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power portfolio, ensuring long-term energy security and affordability for the nation.
