ZF India, formally ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Ltd, secured a favourable order in a GST appeal that set aside an IGST demand and its associated penalty, according to its BSE filing dated October 2, 2026. The company received the Commissioner (Appeals) order by email on October 1, 2026.

The appellate authority allowed the company's appeal and dropped proceedings concerning allegedly excess, irregular or ineligible input tax credit availed and utilised during FY2020-21. The order set aside an IGST demand of Rs 1,79,04,715 and an associated penalty of Rs 17,90,472.

The original demand had been imposed by the Office of the Commissioner of CGST & Central Excise, Jamshedpur. ZF India had previously disclosed that order to stock exchanges on February 12, 2025.

Dispute centred on input tax credit reconciliation

According to the filing, the original demand arose from a mismatch between input tax credit reported in monthly GST returns and the annual return. The company said the demand had been raised without considering the reconciliations it provided.

ZF India said it demonstrated through documentary evidence that it had not availed excess input tax credit. The Commissioner (Appeals) subsequently allowed the appeal and set aside the demand relating to the disputed financial year.

The disclosure therefore concerns an appellate tax order and the withdrawal of the related recovery proceedings. Although the BSE headline categorised the submission under award or receipt of an order, the underlying filing describes tax proceedings.

Company reports no material financial impact

ZF India stated that the favourable order has no material impact on its financial position, operations or other activities. Its accompanying disclosure also recorded:

  • No aberrations or non-compliances identified by the authority in the communication.
  • No penalty, restriction or sanction imposed pursuant to the communication.
  • No action taken by the company with respect to the communication.

The Chennai-based company submitted the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations. It trades on BSE under scrip code 533023 and on NSE under the symbol ZFCVINDIA.
