NTPC Green Energy secured 200 MW/800 MWh in WBSEDCL's standalone BESS tender at a tariff of ₹4.35 lakh per MW per month, the company disclosed.

NTPC Green Energy BESS capacity has expanded through a successful bid for 200 MW/800 MWh in West Bengal, the company said in a BSE filing dated August 7, 2026. NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, emerged as a successful bidder in an e-reverse auction conducted by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).
The auction covered the development of standalone Battery Energy Storage System projects in West Bengal. WBSEDCL's tender sought an aggregate 500 MW/2,000 MWh of standalone BESS capacity through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding process.
Under the Request for Selection, NGEL secured its allotted capacity at a discovered tariff of ₹4.35 lakh per MW per month. The company submitted the press release to BSE and the National Stock Exchange under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.
Capacity and tariff details
NGEL's award accounts for 200 MW of the 500 MW power capacity sought under the WBSEDCL tender, alongside 800 MWh of the total 2,000 MWh energy storage requirement. The exchange disclosure identifies the project as a standalone BESS development in West Bengal.
| Particulars | WBSEDCL tender | Capacity secured by NGEL |
|---|---|---|
| Power capacity | 500 MW | 200 MW |
| Energy storage capacity | 2,000 MWh | 800 MWh |
The filing also specified that the discovered tariff applies per megawatt per month. It did not disclose a total contract value, project commissioning schedule or further implementation milestones.
