Indian Hume Pipe Company Ltd has secured full relief against GST interest and penalties totalling Rs 1,30,54,437, according to its BSE filing dated October 5, 2026. The company said it had received an appellate order granting the entire relief sought in a dispute covering financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22.

The Commissioner of Appeals, Bhopal, passed the Order in Appeal on September 30, 2026 under the Central GST and Madhya Pradesh GST Acts. The dispute concerned interest and penalties imposed for alleged delayed payment of tax and disallowance of certain input tax credit, or ITC.

The company disclosed the decision as a continuation of its earlier intimation dated January 15, 2025. Its latest submission sets out the appellate outcome and the financial implications of the relief granted.

Interest and penalty demand fully relieved

The relief comprises two components identified in the filing:

  • Interest of Rs 34,99,182, imposed under Section 50 of the GST Acts.
  • Penalties of Rs 95,55,255, levied under Sections 73/74 of the GST Acts.

Together, these amounts account for the total relief of approximately Rs 1.31 crore. The disclosed relief relates to the interest and penalty components specified in the company's appeal.

Indian Hume Pipe had appealed against the original order dated January 14, 2025, passed by the Joint Commissioner, Bhopal. That order covered the same two financial years and involved the demand detailed in the latest disclosure.

The filing identifies the opposing party as the Joint Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise/Service Tax, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and the appellate authority as the Commissioner of Appeals in Bhopal.

Company reports no adverse financial impact

Indian Hume Pipe said the appellate order has no adverse impact on its financials because the entire relief sought has been granted.

The company submitted the litigation disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015, with the details enclosed in an annexure.

The communication was addressed to both BSE and the National Stock Exchange. Indian Hume Pipe is identified by BSE scrip code 504741 and NSE symbol INDIANHUME.
