Aurobindo Pharma acquisition: Apitoria completes A1 Biochem deal with 80% India stake
Aurobindo Pharma's Apitoria completes the A1 Biochem research business acquisition, securing an 80% India stake and access to clients across India and USA.

The Aurobindo Pharma acquisition of A1 Biochem Group’s Contract Research Services business through wholly owned subsidiary Apitoria Pharma Private Limited is complete, the company said in a BSE filing dated October 2, 2026. Completion followed fulfilment of the conditions prescribed under the definitive agreements.
The transaction gives Apitoria access to an existing contract research organisation (CRO) platform serving clients in India and the USA. Aurobindo said the acquired business complements Apitoria’s manufacturing capabilities and brings research services into an integrated contract research, development and manufacturing organisation (CRDMO) platform.
The completion disclosure follows earlier communications to the exchanges on July 23, September 12, October 1 and October 2, 2026. Those communications concerned Apitoria’s acquisition of the Contract Research Services business.
India ownership and US acquisition structure
Following completion, Apitoria holds 80% ownership in A1 Biochem Labs (India) Private Limited, referred to as A1 Labs India. Dr. Rajendra Gadikota, the former promoter of A1 Biochem Group, holds the remaining 20% ownership.
The filing also sets out the ownership chain for the US business:
- A1 Biochem USA Inc, USA, is a wholly owned subsidiary of A1 Labs India.
- Through this subsidiary, A1 Labs India acquired 100% membership interest in A1 Biochem Labs LLC, USA.
- A1 Biochem Labs LLC operates in the USA and is a step-down subsidiary of A1 Labs India.
The disclosed structure therefore combines Apitoria’s majority ownership of A1 Labs India with full ownership of the US operating entity through A1 Labs India’s subsidiary.
Research platform adds clients and project experience
According to Aurobindo, the acquired CRO platform has a client base of more than 50 and experience of completing more than 800 projects in India and the USA.
The company said combining this platform with Apitoria’s manufacturing capabilities would expand the portfolio of offerings to customers and support longer engagement across the customer life cycle.
The supplied completion disclosure does not specify the acquisition consideration or provide revenue and earnings figures for the acquired business.
